![]() I brought my XC40 into the dealership this morning for a software update. They looked at me a little sideways when I told them that there was a software update available that I read about on Swedespeed (I just bought the car less than a month ago) but they patiently updated the software and, sure enough, my Stop/Start toggle preference ('OFF') in Comfort driving mode is now saved between key cycles. Switching to ECO driving mode re-activates Stop/Start. Switching back to Comfort mode disables start-stop, consistent with my toggle preference. With this change my assessment of the XC40 just went from a 9.9 to a 10.0. In celebration of Volvo's recent decision to let XC40 owners permanently disable start-stop, here's a Car and Driver article explaining why it is uncommon to be able to turn it off for good: Our other car is a BMW X3, which we’ve had for three years, has always allowed us to turn off this feature. This listing is for Volvo one grille emblem that fits 2009-2015 XC60. VOLVO C30 C70 S40 S60 S80 V40 V40 Cross Country V50 V60. Car Security Products; Vehicle. Note3: Fibre optic kits (M.O.S.T) may require programming. Kits (M.O.S.T) may require a visit to your Volvo dealer who can apply MOST Security OFF patch. We don’t have to reset it every time we start up the car. However, one amusing and puzzling thing. Every time we valet parked the car, the start/stop feature would be back on again! Well, it’s because the off button is right next to the ignition button, so we’re pretty sure that valets in a hurry just reach and stab until they get the right button. No customer should come in with instructions on how to do things. Volvo has been doing interviews with the most successful (highest reviewed) dealerships to try to figure out what other dealerships can do to resolve many issues. For example, they had corporate meetings with some area dealership managers at the NY Auto show. But I think you're thinking about this particular example the wrong way - we have such a great community here that we are often informed of things before word spreads among dealerships. Dealerships have to look at us like we're crazy, because if you sat in a dealership all day and listened to the things misinformed people said to service and sales people you might go insane. Matt, I take your point. But a regular customer (the ones who don't hang out here) depend on the dealership personnel to do their job. They gotta be aware of the TJs. I think most people have a hybrid work style depending on the task and composition of the work group. ![]() A very senior person working with beginners on a project with worrisome time constraints may become a driver. Different work styles allow for creativity and thoughtful solutions. Work styles are disruptive if they cause discension. I like all work styles except if a team member is an 'incompetent' driver.
